Greetings from Tamera

Posted on Aug 26th, 2009 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El
Dear friends,

it's been a long time of consideration, work, and orientation, but finally things are fallingin in place and suspect that soon I will be back with Gaia.

I am in Tamera in south Portugal checking out a community of about 200 people who are working on building a model village and researching the best practices in all areas of human life for the future of human development. It is still in an early stage, but quite impressive in the way they put community building, personal interaction and learning to be peaceful and loving on the top of their list of priorities. Self healing goes together with healing the land, the social relations, the energy supply, and making peace in the whole world.

For me the experience was a reconnection with my roots of 25 years ago when I was involved  in similar projects in Germany, which mostly failed, however, because we were too much focused on being against the system rather than for the love and peaceful cooperation we were really missing.

We all have come a long way through centuries of war and domination of one group of people over the other, but maybe finally the time is ripe to come together in a spirit of oneness, living the love and wisdom, and cooperating in creating a peaceful world which supports the life of everyone.

Tamera is a model from which we all can learn a lot and which raises the hope that peace is possible.

At www.tamera.org you will find the details.

Best greetings and much love to all Gaians,

Mikael

Yes we can

Yes we can

Since I used to be a radical leftist who always tried to change the world it took me about ten years of recovery and spiritual studies to accept the fact that the only thing I have control over in life is my own mind. Now I finally come to simplify the process:

We can only change our own minds.

Our thoughts determine our feelings and actions.

We cannot have a new experience if we don't develop new interpretations.

Our problems are only problems as long as we insist on maintaining our previous interpretations, our old perspective and judgments. As long as we insist on our old views we get more of the old feelings and experiences.

As long as we insist on focusing on the problem instead of the solution we intensify the problem. As long as we insist on being right instead of being happy we are insisting on the views that caused our suffering, addiction, or aggression.

That's why all recovery starts with the question:

"Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?"

If you still keep suffering the advice is:

"If you do what you always did, you get what you always got."

And if you are really getting ready to make the change and work for peace, health and happiness in your world Ghandi reminds you that the only way is to be the change you want to see.

In my view the tools of change must be an organization without leaders, a philosophy without dogma, a spirit of freedom and happiness, and a practice of livng as friends with full respect for everyone. And it is time to begin today. Are you ready?

For details on how to change our minds and on healing our attitudes see :
"Change Your Mind, Change Your Life" by Gerald Jampolsky and Diane Cirincione
.

The following story is supposed to inspire you to join me and set it all up.
(Wonder if I get some feedback this time?)

Felicitas

"Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?"

                                                                             Anonymous

Once upon a time there was a little girl called Felicitas who was always happy. Bigger boys were annoyed with her happy smile and constantly bullied her, but Felicitas always maintained her happiness. She got into a lot of trouble, because whenever children were angry or sad she would say to them: "You want to be right or you want to be happy?" Others would make jokes about her and wherever she went she became a center of mischief and aggressions. Eventually her parents got worried that she was not a normal girl and took her to a psychologist.

When she was asked what the problem was and why she would always provoke the big boys with her "you want to be right or be happy," she said: "I found that whenever I was feeling bad and unhappy I was thinking of something bad or fearful, and when I changed my mind and thought of something happy or beautiful, I would always feel happy. So I decided to change my mind and keep it changed." "Well," said the psychologist, "there is also a lot of bad in the world that we have to look at and think about." "Yes," she answered, "but only in a positive way by looking for solutions. When I focus on the problems too much I become fearful or angry and then I can't do anything about them."

"Well, said the psychologist, "that might be true, but you can't ignore reality and pretend it's all good." "Maybe," she answered, "but why don't you teach people to change their minds, to let go of their anger and fears, and think nice thoughts? Good thoughts always make me feel good and when I feel good I want to help people to feel good, too. I think it's only anger and fears that make people bad. And that's a choice of what we focus on, isn't it?"

The psychologist didn't know what to say and sent the girl to a scientist who was famous for his critical mind. When the scientist heard the girl's story he said: "That is totally irrational and unscientific." "No," the girl replied, "every time you try it, you get the same result. That's how science works, isn't it." "That maybe so," said the scientist, "but you will go crazy if you leave out half of reality. People are half good and half bad, everybody knows that. You will not know how to tell right from wrong any more if you only focus on the good."

The girl wasn't scared. "I am not sure about that; maybe nobody is really right, or everybody is only right in his own way, but I feel good and clear in my mind, and more at peace than anyone I know."

The scientist was upset. "You are a victim of self-deception," the scientist exclaimed, "society will declare you insane, and you will be all alone with your happy thinking. What we call sane is determined by what the majority of the people believe, and no little girl like you can change that."

Now the girl did get a little frightened. She really didn't want to be all alone and without friends in the world. But quickly she reminded herself to change her mind and she said: "Maybe you can control what scientists say and what the newspapers write, but the thinking is free and you can never control that."

The scientist turned red with anger and screamed at the little girl because he didn't know what to say anymore. The girl, however, went home to her parents and began to warn all her friends that the scientists would try to confuse them in order to gain influence over their minds. The friends, however, joined together in a "Fellowship of Friends" in order to keep reminding each other that it was o.k. to think only of good things and to be happy, joyous, and free.

Soon the scientists became worried that the whole world might go insane if they let this Fellowship of Friends get away with their weird teachings on happiness. They wrote articles in scientific magazines and in newspapers and declared the fellowship a dangerous cult. They even talked to the churches, because they sensed that the priests and bishops would loose their influence, too, if this kind of nonsense spread.

The friends of the fellowship, however, were not impressed. The more they observed themselves and how their thoughts created their feelings the more they became convinced that they were doing just the right thing.
Soon they discovered, that by forgiving the bullies as well as the scientists or anyone else who tried to trouble them they would keep their minds at peace. They found that they could even let go of their life stories by forgiving themselves and everyone who they thought had harmed them, and thereby be free from all bad events of the past, which would make them feel even more peaceful and happy. They kept reminding each other to forgive everyone who disturbed their peace of mind or who did not understand what they were doing.

By this practice of self awareness the friends of the fellowship found that whenever they had difficulties with finding a good thought in a bad situation all they needed to do was to give thanks to the universe and to their minds for being positive, and they would feel happy again. They recognized that they choose their experiences by what they focus on and that the attitude with which they approach their experiences would color the feelings their bodies would mirror. They learned to direct their thoughts and choose a positive attitude so that every new thought would support positive expectations and lead to good feelings.

The "Society of Friends" grew fast and the scientists began to feel threatened. but the more the scientists attacked the Fellowship the more people heard about it. Many tried their methods and everyone who really tried them came to the same results. Soon large parts of the world were practicing "New Thought", as it was called, and the Fellowship of Friends turned into a Fellowship of Man, because all these people thinking good thoughts wanted also to do good deeds in order to express and experience their happiness.

Eventually, young scientists took up the practice of positive living and began to prove that there was actually nothing new in New Thought, but that Jesus, Buddha, Shankara, Mohammed, Meister Eckardt, and all wise men of the ages had always said the same thing. It only had been said in ways that could not be understood by many people of the 21. century.

It was found that it was only the level of consciousness that people identified with that determined if they could realize their freedom of changing their minds. As soon as people recognized that the spirit of man is their original goodness, their "good will or will for good", and that this will is identical with their true Self and their original nature, so that they only had to align their will with the purposes of nature, they would be happy, joyous and free. Only when they were overwhelmed by fears, usually related to memories of traumatic experiences from their childhood, they would identify with the old, false self of the fearful personality, or the traumatized ego, as scientists called it. Then they would identify with resentments and fears and forget to change their minds back to the goodness of their spirit.

It didn't take long until some young scientists became open minded enough to find that it was science itself which had excluded spirit from the concept of mind because science had no tools to measure experiences of a spiritual nature. After practicing more self-awareness with conscious deep breathing, mindfulness and insight meditation, however, scientists began to look deeper into the relationships between emotional trauma, negative thinking, and self-destructive behavior. It was found that it was emotional trauma which caused an internal split between thought and spirit, so that people kept insisting on being identified with anger and fears, which would cause them to disrespect themselves and others with all kind of destructive or self destructive behaviors. But when they learned to forgive their trauma and change their minds they would remember their true Selves and become happy and respectful again.

It was found that the trauma therapy EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) was able to neutralize negative memories and emotions and thereby heal mental obsessions based on fears from the past as well as medical illness. It was discovered that physical diseases could be healed through a mind change from fearful thinking with negative expectations to trust in the healing power of nature and the intelligence of the universe.

It was recognized that life is a process of consciousness unfolding continuously into creative manifestation, a force of unity which can have no opposition, since the essence of the universe cannot be working against itself. It became clear that just as darkness is not real, but a name for the lack of light, and just as cold is only an absence of energy, that evil had no reality of its own, but that evil was only a name for destructive emotional forces in human beings, based on the habitual emotional reactions of fear, anger, envy, or revenge. As soon as the negative feelings were experienced and released with EFT they could be easily forgiven and thereby dissolved.

Researchers found that EFT could free the healing powers of nature by releasing the fears and negative emotions that were underlying the symptoms of illness. Hypertension was treated by releasing the repressed anger from the times when it had started to be come a medical problem, and asthma could be stopped by treating the fear of the first remembered attack. Multiple sclerosis vanished by freeing the traumatic experiences that caused it and lower back pain was released by letting go of feelings of guilt and shame causing the need to try to carry the world for, others. Through expanded research more and more emotional conflicts were identified as the causes of most disease and self healing and spiritual mind healing became the most eminent resources of medical treatment.

The origins of religious teachings which said that God was another word for goodness and love was rediscovered and the phrase: "Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy," became a symbol for the ignorance of the old times when people were unaware that opinions are only temporary concepts of limited human thinking and that people must trust in the goodness of the universe and be grateful for the abundance they enjoy if they want to live in peace of mind, health and happiness.

Soon the Fellowship of Friends became renowned for their wisdom and they became teachers for one another and to the world. They showed people how to let go of fears, shame, guilt, anger, and resentments, and how to rediscover their original spirits of goodness, their true Selves. They taught each other how to use EFT to dissolve their medical problems and how to stay in their centers of self-awareness, trust, and spiritual wisdom, through the practice of the new life skills of Tai Chi, yoga, mindful breathing, visualizations and affirmations.

The fellowship developed a mentoring program teaching these life skills called "Each One Teach One" (E1T1, also standing for each one is the one), and helped people realize that their feelings were created by what they thought and talked to themselves, by their attitudes and intentions, and that they always had the choice to focus on good thoughts and good deeds, so that they would feel good. People learned to take responsibility for their thoughts and actions and found that there was nothing outside of themselves that could disturb their peace, love and happiness, if they wouldn't let it. More and more people discovered that life, love, peace, power, truth, wisdom, happiness, freedom, abundance, friendship and whatever people called their highest good, are really inner qualities of all people, which need to be expressed and lived in order to be experienced, rather than social values which have to be enforced.

Over time more and more people woke up from their slumber of absorption in self-centered fears and began to make friends with everyone they met. People realized how thinking expands the underlying assumptions and became determined to put peace, health and happiness for all over the will of being right and dominating others. It was recognized that deep down every person wants the same peace, love and happiness and to secure the best intentions for the next generation, and that the constant political struggles were about how to realize that good and not about good people fighting bad people as it appeared in political propaganda.

Movements to create peaceful, sane and happy societies were organized and  eventually a World Peace Party was founded in every country and people learned how to create healthy communities and political structures which would enable the distribution of food and other resources in ways so that there was enough for all. The new life skills of emotional self management, such as mindful breathing, emotional clearing with EFT, yoga, Tai Chi, meditating, visualizing , positive focusing, and many others were taught in high schools so that children grew up knowing how to live self-responsibly and remain peaceful, happy and healthy. The old teaching that our original goodness, our true Self is identical with the essence, intelligence and powwer of the universe, which in earlier times had been called God, Christ consciousness, bhudda nature, Allah or Atman, was reconfirmed, and the world religions made peace based on the principles they could all agree upon. The world grew into a place of conscious, positive living and peaceful cooperation, and while the people kept practicing the new found skills by expressing joy and living  love in, as and through their creative power inside, Felicitas and her friends lived happily ever after.

We all need recovery from the past

Posted on Jul 19th, 2008 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El
I posted this on the "healing through mindchange" pod this week, but it seems so important to me that I repeat it here and expand it a little.

Researchers are catching up with what we thought a long time ago:
that most of modern illness, crime, violence, addictions and other destructive and self-destructive behaviors are caused by our anger and fears based on mistreatment through parents and society.

In fact by now it seems to me to be total common sense to say that all human problems are emotional problems, because if we had no anger or fear we could just cooperate peacefully and organize life on the planet to the best for everybody. That's how simple it really is, only who dares to say so?

Many are so deeply stuck in his/her lifestory and fearful projections or angry resentents that the simplicity escapes most of us.

Researchers have come to see, however, that emotional trauma can be linked to most self-destructive and destructive behaviors, from killing oneself with cigarettes or heartattacks or AIDS to acting out in anger with abusive behavior, violent thoughts or fighting the insanity of Republicans. (Ooops, I guess that wasn't on the list).

Anyway, the researchers are talking about "Adverse Childhood Experiences" (ACE) when they mean the traumatic experiences we suffered through, our experiences of child abuse, neglect, deceipt, and other disrespectful behavior.

Here is a summary of what they could piece together. Check especially the table on page 6 of this report for an overview over the consequences of emotional trauma.

So how do we avoid these kinds of sickness and how can we recover from the past?

By letting go of the story, releasing the negative emotions with EFT, forgiving ourselves and everyone involved in the drama, releasing all judgments and by raising our consciouness to the point that we realize that it was only our negative attitude, caused by our traumas which tied us to the past.

Once we learn to let go and choose what we think we will recognize that we are creative spirits, not victims of our thoughts, emotions or experiences, - the way to freedom, peace, and joyful living in supportive cooperation.

Simple -or what ? - but not as easy as it sounds.

The amazing thing is that EFT actually can heal these health and behavior issues if we treat the fear and the underlying trauma.

None but ourselves can free our minds
                                                    Bob Marley, Redemption Song

P.S.:

So what does this have to do with Gaia, where we have no child abusers, addicts or homeless?

Consider this:
We cannot change the world; the only thing we can influence is our thoughts, our beliefs. And that will change our emotions and behaviors, so that we might become able to help others to free themselves.

Fighting the bad only makes them stronger.

The past has only as much power as we let it.

And: I have been involved in child abuse, addiction, homelessness, and violent thinking, so maybe i am only reminding myself to stay in recovery.

I can't do much more at this time except to apologize to everybody who had raised his expectations of me qand my page.

I had just started to work on my professional page and planned to make a commitment to daily writing, when my mother died. I had to go to Germany where I still am and had no internet connection until yesterday, and now it's all about taking care of my father and sorting out a lot of other things.

Please forgive me for being out of touch, everybody,

until soon,

The revelation of all revelations

Posted on Dec 14th, 2007 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El
It's funny how the mind works.

I've been watching my mind for quite a while now and found that no mater how much I try to be in charge, the most important insights come over night. My mother used to say cynically, when she wanted to express her disaproval of my laziness: "To His people God gives it in their sleep."("Den Seinen gibt's der Herr im Schlaf.")

Well, it's true. This morning I woke up early seeing my "Latest insights" from the bottom of my profile (first three verses of the poem below), in front of me, expanded by the last two lines, the logical consequence of the first three.

And it's the end of the mind change, the revelation of all revelations.

Here is the whole thing:

Letting go

The only obstacle to love
is the fear of letting go of the judgments.

The only obstacle to peace
is the fear of letting go of the conflicts.

The only obstacle to enlightenment
is the fear of letting go of the concepts.

Love, peace, enlightenment are what I am
before I disturb them with thinking.

So what is the Mind Change?

Posted on Nov 25th, 2007 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El
Change your mind and keep it changed, says Emmet Fox

The mind change is the recognition that your life is only playing out in your mind and body and that you are insane if you don't make it good.

It is the recognition that you are as free as you can imagine and that the only obstacle to your health, peace, abundance and happiness is your thinking.

It is the acceptance that life is the way it is and that you are the way you are and that it is all good, if you let it.

It is the recognition that the world is wonderful, beautiful, full of joyous expression of life,  rich and abundant with everything everyone ever needs,  and that the only problem is human ignorance and your resistance to make proper use of what you've got.

The mind change is the realization that there is no problem, but what humans make it, and that all human problems are emotional problems; it is the realization that evil does not exist except as a thought to manifest anger, resentments, and fear, which arise when goodness is repeatedly frustrated. It is the realization that it is your own thinking that makes the world appear to be a problem, not what others do or think.

The mind change is the recognition that everyone always wants to express love and goodness, which is the nature of our true Self, our Spirit, but gets frightened through the ignorant behavior of others, just like you.

The mind change is the recognition that you are in charge of your mind and that every time you use your mind you create your reality , so that you know you better use it good to make it good.

The mind change is to see the ignorance in others, but mostly in yourself, and to forgive it  continuously so that you may find your true Self, and live out of the original will for the good of all, continously happy, joyous and free, no matter what.

......and that's what I am trying to do today., and if I remember, tomorrow, and tomorrow...

Free yourself from fear with open heart

Posted on Sep 25th, 2007 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El
After two days of self searching and treating myself with EFT I remember that I am only doing it to myself. That it's only my thoughts that create my feelings and that peace lies in right thinking and letting go of the fear.

And then I found some resources in my files which say it much better than I can,
For example :"Free Yourself From Fear," a free download article at Openheart Press

P.S.:
I still want you for my Society of Friends Network (tagged SOFN) to teach peaceful living to one another and help each other to stay out of the fears.

One Mind, One Love,

Relapse

Posted on Sep 22nd, 2007 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El
Today I see that what I wrote yesterday about my fears of the expansion of war is a relapse, a relapse into old ideologies from the seventies, a relapse into thinking that was based on fear and the dialectices of fighting for good aginst evil. Which requires something to fight against in order to feel good about my own struggles, of course. So that thing I am fighting  must be evil, or how can I be good and right?

After a few years of studying Science of Mind and preaching Oneness, I should have known that seeing the forces that strive for control of the world as the problem only gives them power, and that I need to let go of the past and the negatives to find a better way to live. But i also knew that I still have difficulties (speak: resistance) to the teaching that we always need to deny the negative.

Ernest Holmes says it all the time: don't think about the problem, only think of the solution. Affirm the positve, deny the negative. And when I stop to look at it I know he is right and that the negative is never real. It is always an invention of my fantasy based on fear.

Like when I am sick and get worried about getting sicker. I go into fear, project pain, suffering and death into my future and if i get myself scared enough my immune system will be so compromised that i actually might die. That way I prove to myself that it was real, that my fears were justified and never have the opportunity to find out that it works the other way too. If I deny the sickness, convince myself that i am filled with life energy and nothing can harm me, i have a good chance to recover in the shortest time. And prove that i am right again.

That's how we always prove to be right in what we think. Except that we exclude the other half of the possibilities and the world. And forget that whatever we fight we make stronger.

And that's what i forgot in my fear yesterday. The war is only real if most people live in fear and call it real, because if they weren't in fear they wouldn't show up. They would laugh about a small group of people trying to take over a future world government and talk to their neighbors and get rid of the power addicts. Then they would talk to the other side who really wants peace too, but who are too afraid so that they respond with weapons rather than with laughter, make a peace agreement and work things out. Bombs and guns never worked out anything, they only keep peole in fear and away from talking things through.
So all iIneed to do is to get out of the fearful fantasies and trust that we can work it out..

So, sorry for the alarm.

Let's stay positive, and affirm that all fear is unreal.

How did that go in the "Course in Miracles":

Only love is real.
Nothing real can be threatened.
Therein lies the peace of Mind.
(Well, i guess it was God, wasn't it.? But that's one and the same anyway.)

Thanks for listening.

Help, I'm getting depressed again

Posted on Sep 21st, 2007 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El
Dear Friends,

please, help me out.
I wanted to open a vision cafe myself here in Jamaica and hoped to go to Uganda this summer, too. Due to largely personal and technical problems I was kind of left behind though, because I only have a slow cell phone gprs-connection and can never get the patience to download videoclips (it seems to take two days for a 5 minute clip) and on vision force evrything seemed to be in video clips.

So I drifted away from vision force waiting for better times with ADSL or satellite internet.

Nevertheless I created phantasies about producing video clips myself in order to spread my message of recovering the spirit with mindfulness, EFT, and New Thought practices as my blog decribes.
,
Now Michael actually brings out or rather advertizes a shoppingcart program that is supposed to make video-ebooks easy to market and promises to ease the colllection of thousands of email adresses.

So, everything super, isn't it?
I am in business and short of becoming an email millionaire.

Too bad I changed my mind again.  In the mean time I have been reading to many news while I have been searching the net. And I am tired of trying to become rich and the top spiritual marketeer. Besides that I don't know what to sell through all these emails, and I rather give away what I have to offer anyway.

So my problem is this:

Uganda is under water, and I don't want to market wonderful ideas (and little booklets and postcards on the side) just in order to get rich. And I don't see how the effective marketing of my spiritual self healing program does one bit for Uganda and for equal opportunity in the world.

At the same time  stock market specualtion is taking over the world, while the American ruling elite is getting ready to expand it's war into Iran in order to scare everybody into one line of American nationalism behind "the great president" and the western world.  When that takes off in a few months, all we need is a smart New Age power addict and ideologist who knows how to sell an idea of a New World order installed by "the grand American people" to get enough backing and expand the war into a movement that suppresses all opposition to American hegemony and let sus end up with a development as the world experienced under Hitler. Do you see what I mean?

The war in Irak is not about the oil, oil can be bought with cash. And it's not a war of Christians versus moslems, that's the cover for the future maybe, it is about who is the strongest and who controls the largest areas in a future world government, America or China?

It seems to me we better stop sitting at the sidelines too long without speaking up if we want a democratic world resulting out of current politics.

Peace is now.

And if there is no peace now , there is conflict.

There is nothing in between, only ideologies which serve to blame the other side.

Don't we need to start mobilizing the democratic forces for peace in the world now?

How about a World Peace Party with chapters in every country?

I am ready to start it right now. Just to get out of the depression.

Or how do you see that - zaadzsters?

Is this a relapse into the ideologies of the seventies or is this really happening?

Please help me out.

And give me a vote by signing up as friend of a United Peace Party, now.

The Truth That Sets Me Free, 2

Posted on Jul 8th, 2007 by Mi Ka El : Mindchanger Mi Ka El

This version is from my diary last week, in form of a "spiritual mind treatment," for treating my own mind.

The Truth That Sets Me Free

There is one life in the universe which cannot be divided against Itself. This life expands and expresses Itself as all life forms, as plants, animals, humans and consciousness. It's intelligence is in me and I am aware of It as It is aware through me and as my perceptions of life now.  There is one mind, one intelligence, one consciousness, and humans are taking part in It and making use of It. As It supports life and nature, and as It supplies everything we need for our lives from food and shelter to self awareness, peace and love, we call it goodness itself, or God, "de goode man" (in old Gerrman).

As I experience love when I express love and as I feel good when I act out of a sincere desire for goodness, harmony and peace, I know that the goodness is flowing through me as me. I am aware that this power for good runs in and through my life and I am immersed in It. I feel It as the vibrations in my body and as the feelings in my guts. I cannot be separated from It nor work against It. I realize that bad thought or evil actions are only reactions out of anger and fear.

As I recognize the truth that my life is It's life, and that my true Self is the Goodness Itself I am set free from all worries, fears and resentments and I feel the joy of being set free to express my Self uninhibitedly knowing that only good can come from me as long as I reject  acting out of resentment or fear.

I recognize my true desire for peace, love and harmony between people and know that my decision to live freely as my true Self is my best contribution to the well being of all. I know that deep inside I am love, I am peace, I am harmony, and in gratitude I let it be so.

And so it is.

For info on spiritual mind treatment check Ernest Holmes, "The Science of Mind" and for many examples there is the "Creative Thought Journal."
